Oil and Gas Mixture Ratios
Oil / Gas Mixture
2-Stroke Oil & Gas Mixing ChartFor 2-Stroke outboards that require a 50:1 premix of oil/gas. We've put together the following chart to simplify the calculations. Mix Calculator–ounces of oil (50:1)
–pints of oil
–milliliters of oil
Calculation: # Gallons x 128 (ozs) / Ratio = Ounces of Oil to mix with Gas. Matching rows in the charts below are highlighted. 50:1 Gas/Oil MixtureNormal use
25:1 Gas/Oil MixtureBreak-in
During your initial break-in period you should use a 25:1 (double oil) mixture. See your owner's manual for complete details or view our Break-In Chart on-line. Oil & Fuel Requirements2-Stroke outboardsUse ONLY 2-stroke outboard motor oil with an NMMA (National Marine Manufacturer's Assoc.) certified rating of TCW3. Never use automobile motor oil in your 2-stroke outboard!
TLDI outboardsTLDI outboards should only be run using TCW3 oil specifically formulated for use in Direct Injection motors. Standard TCW3 oil is not recommended for use in TLDI outboards.
The following oils have been tested by our factory and certified for use in TLDI motors:
The above oil brands are currently the only brands that have been tested and approved by our factory for use in TLDI systems. Brand names listed are trademarked by their respective owners. Gasoline87Minimum octane (unleaded) 89Recommended for best performance Unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 is necessary; however, we recommend using an octane rating of 89, if possible, for best performance. Conversion Information128 ounces = 1 gallon
1 ounce = 0.0296 liters
16 ounces = 1 pint
1 gallon = 3.789 liters
2 pints = 1 quart
4 quarts = 1 gallon
Calculation:# Gallons x 128 (ozs) / Ratio = Ounces of Oil to mix with Gas
Examples:6 (galls) x 128 (ozs) / 50 (50:1 ratio) = 15.36 ozs of oil for 6 galls of gas
6 (galls) x 8 (pints) / 50 (50:1 ratio) = 0.96 pints of oil for 6 galls of gas |
